How Dalor works
On Dalor you rent and buy things directly from people and businesses in Austria. Here is what happens from the first request to the return.
Last updated:
On Dalor you send a rental request for your dates, or book straight away if the listing offers instant booking. Once the owner accepts, you pay by card or from your Dalor wallet, and Dalor holds the money. At pickup you confirm the handover with at least one photo. After the return a 24-hour window follows; if no dispute is opened, the owner gets paid.
What can I do on Dalor?
On Dalor you rent items by the day or buy them at a fixed price. Some listings offer both, so you see a daily price and a sale price.
Only people and businesses who have verified their identity can list items. Only their listings appear in search.
How does renting work?
A rental has seven steps. The money stays with Dalor until the item is back and the 24-hour window has passed without a dispute.
- RenterSend a request
Pick your dates and send a request. If the listing offers instant booking, the booking is confirmed without the owner’s approval.
- OwnerAccept the request
The owner accepts. Dalor checks the calendar again at that moment, so double bookings are technically impossible.
- RenterPay
You pay by card or from your Dalor wallet. The money stays with Dalor for now.
- DalorGet the address
After payment you see the exact pickup address.
- RenterConfirm the handover
At pickup you confirm the handover on Dalor and upload at least one photo.
- OwnerConfirm the return
When the rental ends, the owner confirms the return, also with at least one photo.
- DalorRelease the money
Both sides then have 24 hours to report a problem. If no dispute is open, the money goes to the owner’s Dalor wallet.
How does buying work?
When buying, you pay first, collect the item and confirm the pickup with a photo. The seller is paid 24 hours later if no dispute is open.
- BuyerBuy now or make an offer
Buy at the listed price or suggest your own price.
- BothAgree on a price
Buyer and seller can take turns making counter-offers until one side accepts.
- BuyerPay
You pay by card or from your Dalor wallet. The money stays with Dalor for now.
- BuyerCollect and confirm
When you collect the item, you confirm receipt with at least one photo.
- DalorRelease the money
24 hours later the money goes to the seller, provided no dispute is open.
How do offers and counter-offers work?
On items for sale you can suggest your own price. The seller accepts, declines or makes a counter-offer, and then it is your turn again.
If the seller has set a minimum bid, every offer must be at least that high. Requests and offers expire if the other side does not reply in time.
How do I pay on Dalor?
You pay by card or from your Dalor wallet. Card payments are processed by Stripe, and you can also top up your wallet by card.
Before paying you see an itemised breakdown, such as the rental or sale price, the service fee and any delivery cost. After payment, the payment confirmation and invoice are available as PDFs in your account.
When do I get the exact pickup address?
You see the exact address only after payment. Before that, the map shows a circle of about 1 km that contains the pickup location.
The pickup location sits at a random spot inside the circle, not in the centre. If the owner offers delivery, the listing shows whether it is free or costs a flat fee.
Can I cancel a booking?
Yes. Before payment, either side can cancel a request or an offer.
After payment, any refund follows the listing’s cancellation policy: flexible, moderate or strict. You can see which one applies on the listing before you book.
Can I buy an item I am renting?
Yes. During an active rental you can buy the item instead of returning it (buyout). You see the amount in the breakdown before you pay.
How do I message the other person?
Every rental and purchase has its own chat between you and the other side. Messages appear live and you can attach photos.
Keep all arrangements about timing, accessories and condition in the Dalor chat. That way everything is in one place.
How do reviews work?
You can leave a review only after a completed transaction. The renter rates the owner and the item, and the owner rates the renter.
A review consists of 1 to 5 stars and a written comment.
