Lending and selling on Dalor
This guide explains how to create a listing, which pricing rules apply and how you get your money after a rental or sale.
Last updated:
To rent out or sell on Dalor, you first verify your identity: KYC as a private person, KYB as a sole trader or company. You then create a listing with up to 10 photos and a daily or sale price. The daily price must be at least 2% of the item’s new value. After the return and a 24-hour window without a dispute, your money arrives in your Dalor wallet.
What can I list on Dalor?
You can offer an item for rent, for sale or both. For rentals you set a daily price, for sales a fixed price.
- Listing type
- rent, sale or both
- Photos
- up to 10; the first is the cover
- Title
- up to 80 characters
- Description
- up to 4,000 characters
Why do I need to verify my identity?
Only verified lenders and sellers can publish listings, and only their listings appear in search. You also need verification to receive payouts.
Verification is handled by an external verification provider. The check you need depends on your account type.
- Private person: identity verification (KYC)
- Sole trader: business verification (KYB) with company name, VAT ID (UID) and company register number (Firmenbuchnummer)
- Company: business verification (KYB) with company name, VAT ID (UID) and company register number (Firmenbuchnummer)
What is the minimum daily rental price?
The daily price must be at least 2% of the item’s new value. You state the new value on every rental listing.
For longer rentals you can set percentage discounts, one from 7 days and one from 30 days.
- Minimum daily price
- 2% of the new value
- Example
- €1,000 new value → at least €20 per day
- Discounts
- optional, in percent from 7 and from 30 days
Which settings can I choose for a listing?
All of the following settings are optional. Renters see them on the listing before they request or pay.
- Deposit: a refundable amount. In a dispute, Dalor support can decide that you keep part of it.
- Delivery: not offered, free or for a flat fee. You receive delivery costs in full, without commission.
- Minimum rental period in days.
- Cooldown: days kept free between two rentals, for example for cleaning or checking the item.
- Cancellation policy: flexible, moderate or strict.
- Instant booking: renters book without needing your approval.
- Dalor Protection: an included protection on some listings, funded from the platform’s commission.
- Minimum bid: the lowest price buyers can offer on items for sale.
How do I control when my item is available?
You control availability with the calendar, the minimum rental period and the cooldown. Block dates in the calendar when you need the item yourself.
Double bookings are technically impossible because Dalor re-checks the calendar each time a request is accepted. If you need a break, switch on vacation mode for a single listing or your whole account.
How does the handover work?
Pickup and return are both recorded with photos. Two PDF protocols are created automatically.
- OwnerAccept the request
You accept the request and the renter pays. With instant booking this step is skipped.
- DalorShare the address
After payment the renter sees your exact pickup address.
- RenterHandover
At pickup the renter confirms the handover with at least one photo. This creates the handover protocol (Übergabeprotokoll).
- OwnerReturn
At the end you confirm the return with at least one photo. This creates the return protocol (Übernahmeprotokoll).
- Both24-hour window
Both sides then have 24 hours to report a problem.
When does the owner get paid?
Your money arrives in your Dalor wallet once 24 hours have passed after the confirmed return and no dispute is open. The commission has already been deducted; delivery costs and your own extras are paid in full.
From your wallet you withdraw to your bank account. To do this you set up payouts once via Stripe Connect. Each payout has a fee, which you see before you confirm.
How do I sell something on Dalor?
You set a fixed price. Buyers either buy at that price straight away or make an offer, and you can take turns making counter-offers.
With a minimum bid you decide the price below which no offers are possible. After payment the buyer collects the item and confirms with a photo; 24 hours later you are paid if no dispute is open.
Which documents does Dalor create for me?
Dalor generates all documents automatically as PDFs. You download them in your account.
- Booking confirmation (Transaktionsbeleg)
- Rental invoice (Rechnung)
- Payment confirmation (Zahlungsbestätigung)
- Owner settlement (Abrechnungsguthaben)
- Purchase confirmation (Kaufbeleg)
- Sales settlement (Verkaufsabrechnung)
- Commission invoice (Provisionsrechnung)
- Handover protocol at pickup (Übergabeprotokoll)
- Return protocol (Übernahmeprotokoll)
How do I write a good listing?
Good photos and a precise description save you questions and misunderstandings at the handover.
- Take photos in daylight against a plain background.
- Show the item from every side, with close-ups of any signs of wear.
- Choose your most informative photo first; it becomes the cover.
- Put brand, model and the key detail, such as size or power, in the title.
- Describe condition, accessories and anything the renter needs to know, for example about operation or transport.
- Enter the real new value; it sets the minimum daily price.
- Reply to requests promptly, otherwise they expire.
