Safety on Dalor
Renting and buying from other people is built on trust. These safeguards are part of every transaction on Dalor.
Last updated:
Dalor protects renters, buyers and lenders in several ways. Only lenders with a verified identity can publish listings. The money stays with Dalor until the handover and return are confirmed with photos and a 24-hour window has passed without a dispute. Only people who have paid see the exact address. If something goes wrong, Dalor support reviews the dispute using messages and photos and makes a decision.
Who can list items on Dalor?
Only people and businesses with a verified identity. Private people complete identity verification (KYC); sole traders and companies complete business verification (KYB) with company name, VAT ID (UID) and company register number.
Verification is handled by an external verification provider. Listings from unverified accounts do not appear in search.
How is my payment protected?
You pay Dalor, not the lender directly. Dalor holds the money until the transaction is complete.
The lender is paid only after the return or pickup and a 24-hour window without a dispute. If you pay outside Dalor, for example in cash or by bank transfer, this safeguard does not apply.
Why do I have to upload photos at the handover?
Photos record the condition of the item when it changes hands. At pickup the renter or buyer uploads at least one photo; at the return the owner does.
Dalor then creates a handover protocol and a return protocol as PDFs. In a dispute, these photos help establish what happened.
What is the 24-hour window?
After a rental is returned or a purchase is collected, both sides have 24 hours to report a problem. Only then does Dalor release the money.
If a dispute is opened during this time, the money is not released while the dispute is open.
Who can see my address?
Only you and the other side, once they have paid, see your exact address. Publicly, the map shows only a circle of about 1 km.
Your address sits at a random spot inside the circle, not in the centre, and the circle does not move. That means your location cannot be narrowed down by viewing the map repeatedly.
What is Dalor Protection?
Dalor Protection is an included protection on some listings. It is funded from the platform’s commission, so renters pay nothing extra for it.
Whether a listing includes Dalor Protection, and any coverage limit, is shown in the price breakdown before you pay.
What happens if there is a problem?
You open a dispute on the transaction concerned. Each transaction can have one open dispute, and the listing is hidden from search while it is open.
- BothOpen a dispute
The renter, buyer or lender opens a dispute on the transaction.
- BothAdd evidence
Both sides add messages and photos. The log is append-only: nothing can be edited or deleted.
- DalorDecision
Dalor support reviews the case and decides in favour of the owner, the renter or partly for each. Outcomes can include keeping part of a deposit or reversing a payout.
How do I report a suspicious listing?
Use the report function on the listing. Listings that receive many reports are removed automatically.
Report a listing if, for example, the photos do not match the item or someone pushes you to pay outside Dalor.
How do I keep my account secure?
Turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app (TOTP). Alternatively, sign in with a passkey.
Your phone number and email address are shown only partially in your account. Never share your login details or confirmation codes with anyone.
What should I look out for at the handover?
A few minutes of care at the handover prevent most problems.
- Arrange the handover in daylight.
- Compare the item with the listing photos on the spot and try it out if you can.
- Take handover photos that clearly show condition, accessories and any signs of wear.
- Keep all arrangements in the Dalor chat.
- Never pay outside Dalor.
- Report problems within the 24-hour window.
